2nd Birthday Outdoor Portrait Session in Lavender

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing a very special milestone — my little model’s 2nd birthday. I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous before the session. This year, my own little son has decided to be a bit more “challenging” during photo sessions, so I wondered how it would go with another two-year-old.

But from the very first moment, I could tell this was going to be special. My birthday boy arrived in the best mood imaginable — full of curiosity, ready to explore, and with the sweetest smiles. It reminded me that not every toddler is the same, and sometimes the stars align perfectly for a photo session.

We decided to celebrate in the most beautiful way — with an outdoor portrait session surrounded by lavender. There’s something magical about this time of year, when the fields are painted in rich shades of purple. Personally, I adore seeing my own little boy in the middle of all that colour, and it warmed my heart to watch my young model completely at ease among the blooms.

We kept the setup simple — no cake, no elaborate decorations. The lavender itself was more than enough. The soft hum of bees, the gentle summer breeze, and the glow of golden light made everything feel serene and timeless. Sometimes, less really is more.
